Never miss a moment

A Great Day

Back to birding with two friends today, its been a while and it was great. Met so many other photographers and twitchers out too as we kept our eyes out for the wryneck. The wryneck is a regular autumn migrant to sites along the eastern and southern coasts of the UK on its passage to its wintering sites in tropical Africa and southern Asia. As a species in the woodpecker family, they feed almost exclusively on ants but unlike other woodpeckers, are seen mainly on the ground.

Away from the wryneck we had a good showing from the stonechats male & female, robins, dunnocks, cormorants, lapwing, oystercatchers and even a kingfisher in the reserve and on the shoreline turnstones, brent geese, and plenty of gulls. And all this with sunshine all day long made it a GREAT day
