If you can't beat them...

Stoke Middle Lock

We carried on up the trent and Mersey mooring for the night at Westport Lake not far from the Harecastle tunnel.  It had been a pleasant day and the mooring was right beside the lake so I had a walk round the perimeter.  This added Great Crested Grebe and young,Lesser Black backed gull coot and Tufted duck to the days bird list.

We had tied up early to wait for Fr who was going to look at a problem with the water pump for us.  He arrived wriggled under the well deck but sadly there was an O ring missing and he didn't have a spare.  So we arranged to meet him again at the end of cruising tomorrow.

The blip shows Stoke Middle Lock looking up at the top lock.  These are situated at Etruria just before the junction with the Caldon Canal.  Etruria was the site of the original Wedgewood factory, now demolished and the factory moved up the cut to Barlaston.  Just out of shot is the building which houses the Etruria Industrial Museum.  The building was originally a bone and flint mill grinding materials for the pottery industry.
