Passionfruit

This is a special area in a citrus grove where we have planted passion fruit (called granadilla in Malawi) with wires on which we train them, as they have a creeping nature.
This is Martha from NRC tying them to the wires so that they'll grow up, sideways and over the top. When they are established they grow all year round and are an excellent and continuous source of vitamin C

Fresh passion fruit is high in beta carotene, potassium, and dietary fibre. Passion fruit juice is a good source of ascorbic acid (vitamin C), and good for people who have high blood pressure. Some research is showing that purple passion fruit peel may help with controlling asthma symptoms.
