Caen Hill (Monday 4th November 2019)

When I dropped in at Caen Hill the swan family were immediately visible on the Moorings, with mum looking very proud and stately. During the twenty minutes I was there one lady manoeuvred her narrowboat, Still Waters from Wilton Hythe, from beside the towpath into a berth on the other side and received the attentions of all three.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Jesus and Mary Chain - My Girl (recorded 31 May 1988, Maida Vale 4, for John Peel)
Jesus and Mary Chain: Jim Reid (vcl), William Reid (gtr, vcl), Douglas Hart (bass)
This cover of the Temptations' classic from 1965 first appeared on the 3" CD single Blues From A Gun  which I still have, but its origin as a BBC session track was not revealed on the CD. Although Jim and William Reid had recorded an acoustic session for Peel, this comes from a later session, broadcast originally on 13 June 1988, of which this was the only acoustic number. It subsequently turned up on their compilation Sound Of Speed and on The Complete John Peel Sessions, which is where I heard it again on this day.
