Pictorial blethers

A bit of variety ...

Today began blue and brilliant, and ended in cloud and - from the wet streets after dark - maybe even some light rain. I was out early hanging out the washing; the gardener came round to discuss the pruning of a tree - and then something new. Mr PB and I went along to a German beginners' class - one of three tasters, with a small group (we booked at the weekend) to see if there's an appetite for this kind of thing in Dunoon. I speak reasonably useful French and a smattering of Italian, and I read Latin, which turns out to be incredibly useful in other European countries - but German has never been something I've tried. It was fun, though I realised that I do in fact know some dramatic but not very handy phrases from singing (Meine Ruh ist Hin raised the teacher's eyebrows...)

The class was in the recently refurbished Burgh Hall, and this is one of the two  rather splendid ornamental lamp-posts that stand outside it.

I can't resist another autumnal extra - the tree in a neighbour's garden - and another of a boat put to horticultural use at Toward sailing club, where we walked later in the day. When the dreich weather really gets going there's fewer photographic temptations ...
