Finland still resists strongly; the Finns have retaken Petsamo which the Russians seized on Saturday. Russian losses, if that can be supposed to be any pleasure to anybody, have been heavy.

The RAF made another surprise attack on Heligoland. All came back safely.

One might draw neat parallels between the Maginot Line and Hadrian’s Wall, or the Great Wall of China!
