Goldeneyes

Horribly windy and wet in Orkney today. These drake goldeneye were a bright spot in the Peedie Sea in Kirkwall. The only bird to inspire the name of a James Bond movie!
If I remember correctly, the Bond author, Ian Fleming, had Scottish roots and the family owned a house by Loch Rannoch. Goldeneye visited every winter. They also owned a place in Jamaica and named the property after the ducks to remind them of their Scottish house. Must be nice to have money!
