Murmuration

Staying an interesting week-end in Glastonbury with friends.  This afternoon M drove us to Shapwick to see the murmurations of starlings as they came in to roost in the reedbeds at dusk.  There were millions of them flying in from all directions and meeting up to begin their swirling dances over the water and reeds until they dive-bombed towards the ground  at great speed.  Their chattering sounded like a storm of rain outside the house and then all of a sudden it stopped.
