Advent in the Fens - Day 1

Ely Cathedral and 14th century Porta

Left the West Country early on a wet morning, and four hours later we were under blue skies in The Fens. Passing through Cambridge, the Christmas Fair was in full swing on Parker’s Piece (first extra), then approaching Ely, the cathedral stood out on the horizon, easy to see how it got its nickname, the ‘Ship of the Fens’ (second extra).

After stocking up the fridge for the week, we lit the candles and settled down for a cosy, sleepy afternoon and evening of films. So today just a few pics taken en route from the car. I have no great plans for the next few days. To be honest, I just want to take a step back from things and rest up. But I shall do my best to find something suitably festive each day...
