Onshore winds and swell

The winds were directly onshore at Sandy early this morning.  It was exhilarating to face the ocean in turmoil.   Strong winds sent spume flying up the beach (not too often do you see that).    Waves were smacking into the coastline and erupting higher.  Every so often an underwater spray would erupt from right to left, traveling swiftly across the water, like the visible path of an underground animal.   You can see the froth in the foreground here.   It was a stormy overcast, and rain was forecast for midday, which for once came right on schedule!   More is forecast  . . . .  The flanks of Kokohead  were running with waterfalls, as were the other mountain ranges.   Flooding, downed trees, power outages, a few roofs blown off, many plans changed from outdoor activities.   A real winter storm.       Merry Christmas, everyone!
