Suspended Animation

What better to photograph on an overcast day with low light? I noticed a few bubbles in the ice and started to experiment. Then I saw the swirl and tried various proportions of light and dark eventually arriving at shapes and a balance that appealed to me.

The diagonal line in the ice sloping right, crossing the bent reed sloping left, provide additional graphical elements to enhance the composition.

I tried to simplify the colour palette to black, white and orange.
