sweet brown pelican

Yesterday, Steve took me on a lovely, slow boat ride in Chelsea around the lower islands. We live on a smaller tidal river that connects to a larger river, that eventually connects to Tampa Bay and the Gulf of Mexico! It was a lovely day to be out in our solar powered boat and we saw a lot of birds. Besides this brown pelican, Steve spotted movement around the corner in a cove and brought us near. We saw: 1 great egret, 3 roseate spoonbills (as far as I could tell) and 1 tri colored heron, all roosting together! At another point in our trip we saw a juvenile little blue heron (all white) and he or she kept landing in the mangrove trees, then flying ahead when we came near. I finally got a photo of him flying, will include extras of what I saw!
