The Declaration of Arbroath

This year is the seven hundredth anniversary of the Declaration of Arbroath ,  the founding document of not just Scottish Independence but also ( some claim) a key influence on the American Declaration of Independence four and a half centuries later.

A group of inspired local women in Angus have created a tapestry to tell its story and , hosted by local MSP Graeme Dey , they showed it off in the Parliament tonight.

It is stunning and will be displayed  in Arbroath Abbey for most of the year.
