Battery Park. And the Sphere.

Today we visited Battery Park. It has more amazing planting by Piet Oudolf and is where visitors can catch a ferry to the Statue of Liberty.

As beautiful as the planting in the park is, I wanted to include a photo of the Sphere - which is a huge metallic sculpture which used to stand in between the World Trade Centre Towers. Amazing it was recovered after the 9/11 attacks and relocated to the park.

Although it's still intact, there is obvious damage and dents in it, and a very powerful reminder of what happened on that day. Saw these airline pilots stand and look at it for quite a long time, which I found quite moving.
