Big smoke

Second day in London this week, having not been for so long. K&I had a bit of a lie in then set off on the train in stunning weather...cold but sunny and clear. Enjoyed a walk along the embankment looking at all the classic sights of the London skyline then into a lovely exhibition about women who collected textiles (extra). The place was heaving with pairs of middles aged and older women...eek!
We made a quick decision on lunch and headed to a beautiful restaurant with a table on the first floor overlooking Green Park. Beautiful staircase, waiters in gorgeous linen aprons and very flavoursome and delicious food. Had a great time (other than overhearing pompous bragging on the next table and ridiculous show off OTT wine swigging....yuk).
Walked from there to Covent Garden, popping into various shops along the way and enjoying the unfamiliar buzz of the place (couldn’t stand it if I was here more often mind you).
Wander around the Opera House then walked up to Euston and train home. Luckily, an announced landslide was north of MK so we didn’t have to cope with the dreaded bus replacement service but instead got home quickly and I almost immediately fell asleep on the sofa before disappearing to bed. Lovely day
