The Edge of the Wold

The coast road to Arnside

There was no-one sat on the bench admiring the view across the Kent estuary today. Underwater is the coast road, flooded on a 10+ metre tide at 1230.  No-one was mad enough to try and drive through it while we were there, though there is usually someone prepared to give it a go, as Knottman2 blipped yesterday. There is usually a gaggle of people waiting to photograph the bow wave of a car, or the aftermath of a failed attempt.

We were on our way back from Wifie's Tai Chi/Qi Gong class, and the tide was still rising at this point.  It necessitated something of a diversion to get home, with a brief sortie to Storth to join the watching gaggle.  Back in Arnside, the water levels weren't high enough to flood the end of the prom. The tides tomorrow and Wednesday look bigger, though I may not be at home to see them.
