Happy Valentine's day

After a morning walk with my neighbour,  I went to a talk on the 100k Genomes project. It was fascinating and I learned that because i had a HER2 Positive cancer diagnosis, it is quite likely to be genetic.

Strands of DNA that once took 13 to 15 years to get the information from can now be achieved in about 3 hours. This means prevention and targeted treatment would become possible. 

Unfortunately the funding has ran out for the Newcastle team that gave the lecture today, the project will end next month but their work should/will continue in a differently managed way.
