(Anything but) A Quiet Place

The early morning traffic report that the A53 between Leek and Buxton was closed due to snow and a quick check of The Peak District Web Cams made for an early decision to drive up to the national park for some photography.

It took some time to get there, but when I finally topped out near Alton Towers you could see the snow lying on the tops to the north.  I headed for Earl Standale, where a short walk took you to this view across the Parkhouse and Chrome Hills.  It was anything but a quiet place (which is the theme for today's wide Wednesday challenge).  The wind was fair pushing me over and this shot was into the teeth of the gale. I had to wait on several occasions because of brief snow and hail showers, dutifully cleaning the front of the lens before setting up again for a shot.  It was worth every moment, I love conditions like this.

I headed across to Flash, finding the A53 had reopened and then down to Ramshaw Rocks, Roaches End and the Roaches for more photography before the slow drive home.
