Aubretia

Originating in Southern Europe and across to Asia, this plant is a member of the cabbage family!  Named after Claude Aubriet, a painter of flowers.
The sheltered sides of the old stone buildings in our farmyard are covered with this plant but only in this colour and there are many other shades of purple and pink. I sometimes prune them hard back after flowering as that strengthens the plant for next year's flowering and new growth.
