Hepaticas

Near to Silverdale is an old farm which opens its wonderful garden twice a year to raise funds for the Plant Heritage Society.

The open day in early Spring is mainly to display its National Collection of Hepatica.

The main show is inside a converted barn where some thousands of plants are to be seen. My main shot shows a typical plant. The extras give some idea of this wonderful show. Plants are for sale from £3 up to over £100 for very rare varieties. As Mrs. K. Was unable to come with me today I naturally brought a plant home for her (£3).

There are many wondrous things out in the garden. In extras you will find a variety of Hellebore with flowers which are more upright than the normal ones.

And the sun came out to add to my pleasure.
