Life's Little Moments

Nap Attack

I don't think any creature has mastered the art of napping so well as a cat.  When you think about it, they have had lots of time to perfect the art of napping ... cats sleep some 19 hours a day on average.  Thanks to Charlie for starring today.

Today marks an odd anniversary of sorts for me.  It was 12 years ago that I first heard the words "acoustic neuroma".  For those of you who aren't up on your medical jargon, this is a rare type of brain tumor that affects around 2,000 people annually.  It is rarely ever cancerous, but can kill you if left to grow unchecked.  So when I first heard those words in reference to my own brain ... well, suffice to say it was a bit of a shocker.  Fast forward, I had a craniotomy (yes, the ultimate in bragging rights) just 2 months later and started what would become a new chapter in my life.

I'm deaf in one ear, limited sight in one eye, and poor balance ... but I've gained such an appreciation for so many things in my life.  And it was this event that ultimately brought me back to photography, something that I can't imagine my life without now.  So, every cloud has a silver lining, eh?

I'm still feeling crappy and the cough seems not to be getting better .... so, I have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow, reluctantly.  And if I suddenly feel better in the morning, I can always cancel it.

Meanwhile, this calm and relaxed cat, our Charlie, is going to have an unpleasant surprise in the morning when we pack him up and take him to the vet to have his teeth cleaned.  Really. who likes the dentist?

Over and out.
