Yellowhammer (Emberiza citrinella)

Not a terribly good shot I know, however this is only the second time I have seen a Yellowhammer in the garden.  The first was a number of years ago in heavy snow conditions.  Sadly they are of red conservation concern, this is because they are in decline on all indicators:  Breeding population decline,winter population decline, breeding range decline and wintering range decline.

FOr anybody thinking I thought they had yellow heads and were generally more yellow, this is a probable male in winter plumage.  Strangely they are of no conservation concern on the continent or globally.  We here in the UK must be doing something wrong.
