Scots in Charleston South Carolina

After breakfast we drove out of town to the Magnolia Plantation, situated on the banks of the Ashley River, a beautiful house & gardens full of flowering azaleas & Camillias.
A beautiful warm spring day, we toured the house & walked around the gardens, spotted a couple of alligators pretending to be logs in the ponds & in the river!
Arriving back in the city we met up with a couple of my visitors who are now friends who live in Charleston, they called by the hotel to say hullo, I’ve travelled with them & other family members quite a few times at home. It was so lovely to catch up!
After they left we headed out for food! They’d recommended a restaurant which didn’t disappoint......beautiful shrimps!
After lunch we walked to the 1st Scots Kirk, wandered through the graveyard & found this plaque. we wandered through some of the streets towards the waterfront, passing houses in the Preservation area with plaques outside the door, many of the houses were owned by Scottish merchants.

I so like Charleston, a vibrant city,
Another wonderfully grand day!
