You Will Be the Light

Yesterday, I shared a picture of Tiny Tiger enjoying our first round of daffodil blooms. My husband made a delicious baked steak dinner for us, and as I was washing the supper dishes, I noticed how wonderfully the late afternoon sun was lighting up our daffodils. So I took some close-up shots of them. No tiger this time; just daffodils.

I have to admit that I - who have been so well blessed in so many ways - have been struggling mentally and emotionally with all of what is going on in the world right now. I miss the normal, everyday things that gave me joy in my life. (You've seen pictures of so many of them on these pages.)

And I worry a lot . . . about my family; about those I love dearly; about the world entire. Worst of all, for me as a control freak, I have no control over ANY of these things. And it looks like I may not, possibly for a very long time.

But as the light shone through these daffodils, and each flower became a tiny lantern, it gave me cheer. And I suddenly had a vision of how it CAN be: how every single one of us - though not the sun ourselves - can become a beacon of light and hope for others in our lives.

So let it be with us.

For someone, YOU will be the light.

The soundtrack song is this one: Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, and Linda Ronstadt, You Will Never Be the Sun.

You'll never be the sun turning in the sky
And you won't be the moon above us on a moonlit night
And you won't be the stars in heaven
Although they burn so bright
But even on the deepest ocean
You will be the light
