The Whys Man

By WhysMan2

Whys... in any language!

I have six soldier men.
They taught me all I know.
Their names are Who? And What? And Where?
And Why? And How? And When?

I send them over land and sea.
I send them east and west.
And when they have done their work,
They come right back to me!

Today, another great group of pupils from St Patrick's PS came to visit the exhibition, some of them the big brothers and sisters of yesterday's P1 visitors. They came with boats big and wee, boats in different languages, and they came, more than anything else, full of questions, lots of questions!

As the pupils placed the St Patrick's boat in the Boat Shed, where it took its place amongst the other school boats, Calicia Lal recited this poem to us all. It's a variation on a Kipling poem, and very fitting in a gallery full of Wyllie works, with a least 39 question marks included within them. (The pupils counted them!)

They had brought boats of all sizes, even tins packed full of boats and they made even more today. They were keen to share all they knew about George Wyllie, and they knew a lot!

And as they shared their ideas, and boats with messages in different languages, Anna Yegoshinka told us the words for the six questions in the Kipling poem. This time it was in Russian, Anna's mum had taught her them. She even held up a card so we could see them..

Who?
What?
Where?
When?
Why?
How?

Now, this, George would definitely have applauded!
