Sunshine, clouds and tulips

More billowing clouds today. We left the hot sunshine of our deck to walk down to the sea, but when the sun went in it was pretty chilly. I wished I'd worn something with long sleeves!

On the way back we stopped to talk to our elderly neighbour Margaret who was sitting in her flower-filled garden. We always stop for a chat if she's outside, which she is if the weather's good, tending her garden. She's very good with tulips, drying them off every year and replanting them the next spring, and a grand display they make!

Quote of the Day:

Mary Astell, 'Serious Proposal to the Ladies for the Advancement of their True and Greatest Interest' (c1694) - "How can you be content to be in the world like tulips in a garden, to make a fine show, and be good for nothing.”
