Experimental surreal drawing

This picture in the archive of Lorna's art work stands out as rather unusual, especially when compared with her other drawings and paintings.

Perhaps, however, we should not be surprised to find an experiment in surrealism amongst the images of historical scenes, plants, wildlife, and theatrical costumes. This is because the third decade of the twentieth century was the Golden Age of the movement: the London International Surrealist Exhibition took place in summer 1936, and surrealist groups were active in London and Birmingham at this time.
