Push through

Woke to a cloudier morning than we’d hoped, so pootled a while before deciding to go out anyway. Met up with V at Joppa’s bike hire place and we set off east along the coast to Gullane. All went very smoothly and easily, most of the way along a bike path very close to the water. Came across a little Harbourside fish shop at Port Seton and I bought kippers for tomorrow - V got an amazing fish pie mix that looked delicious. The cloud soon broke and it was quite warm and when we stopped for our sandwich it was lovely to look out across the Forth (you can still see the parked cruise ships out there).  I think Edinburgh stayed cloudy most of the day so we were pleased to have struck out east and found the sun.
Chatted on about all sorts when we weren’t pedalling, and stopped for a while at Gullane beach (extra) for another rest.
Was expecting it to be another easy ride back as it was such a flat route but oh my goodness the wind (which we hadn’t noticed when it was behind us) was full in our faces and it was like pedalling uphill the whole way back. 45km in total and felt a bit of a wreck at the end!
Home and whipped up a few Scotch pancakes to eat with the jam I made the other day (extra) and collapsed on the sofa with tea to eat them. Barely moved all evening, although had a nice chat with Mt to see the home done haircuts H had given them all today...looking good!
