Alternation

At the end of a warm and sunny day, the light was really quite lovely. I wandered around looking for leaves caught in the sunshine against dark backgrounds.

I found this shot with two trunks close together having side light coming behind the first onto the second. The effect gives vertical bands of light and dark and I positioned the light leaves against the shadow of the nearer tree.

I think I missed a trick not moving slightly left so the darker leaves were against the light. It was quite time consuming to recover all the highlights on the leaves, but I think the result was worthwhile.
