Noel Ace FILER

An engraved stone slab high up on Machen Mountain, Caerphilly, South Wales (UK)

Noel lived at 65 Commercial Road, Machen and here's a photo of Noel in 1985 in his back garden.

Here's some of his work - an example which is all over the mountain.

Here's his funeral notice

I never knew of Noel until about 2005 we were walking up the mountain and came across a man quarrying stone - he looked like an Irish Leprechaun with a pick axe, and was laying on his stomach. We chatted for quite a while and he informed me that he built all the stone paths over Machen Mountain which he quarried. He moved each stone a few feet each day until he could make it fit into position. Years of work all done for love and the benefit of the community - for free - a lasting legacy.
