Brisk morning weather with brisk business at the Clerk of Taxes window this morning at Town Hall . The main building was erected in 1863, now with many additions, but the old section retains a sparse New England charm. Old newel post , sturdy black and gold Hitchcock church bench and simple winding stairs, it's a building that has served many purposes through the years. Some of the upper rooms were pressed into service as classrooms when new schools needed to be built in the late '50s, early '60s due to overcrowding.

There's an interesting painted mural in the new section depicting early local scenes, done by Sidewalk Sam. . The area around Town Hall is a National Historic District and very representative of a small New England community. The First Congregational Church , GAR Memorial and the Center Cemetery behind the church, all quite typical. A paternal ancestor of mine was a founding Deacon at the church. The original building burned, but also served as church and Town Hall in 1727.

For the Record,
This day came in brisk and sunny, snow flurries expected later. Off to the painting studio soon. My friend's elderly mum fell again and is back in the hospital. At 91 it's tricky.
