Yellowhammer

After another damp, grey day I had a short but rather lovely evening walk round Barnack Hills and Holes this evening, serenaded by a Mistle Thrush and many Yellowhammers. The first Fragrant Orchids are starting to appear, but because of the drought most are very small.

I drove there in the hire car I'd picked up at lunchtime to enable me to work in Milton Keynes over the weekend. I wanted to get used to it before heading out on a longer journey. It was okay, but the suspension is a lot less forgiving than my Cactus, and after twenty minutes on rough country roads I was beginning to feel quite car-sick! Hopefully I'll get used to it and it'll be less of a problem on major roads.
