In Flanders field the poppies blow

Just driving home from work and passing the memorial of king Albert I  and the fallen heroes of WWI. Even when all other plants and flowers suffer from the droughtness, the poppies will always blow. I see them as a symbol for all the fallen soldiers. My grandfather hasbeen on the front for about + 4 years. He was a farmer and his wife had to manage evrything alone with the help of some other family members. When he came home around x mas , he had a daughter of +3Y old who saw her father for the first time. In WWII their house was bombed and they had to leave for some time , but everybody ( wife and 10 children ) survived .
Shortly after the ending of WWI he expired due to a lung disease. His lungs became weaker due to the gas chloride attacks in WWI.
