The Lime and the Coconut...

Just checking to make sure the lime and the coconut aren't mixed up...

Sometimes I wonder why I take certain pictures but today this one was perfect. For the first time in awhile I was stopped by a cop. It seems we had a difference of an opinion or as a company I used to work for said "An opinionated violation of the law which the officer knew wouldn't hold up in court"

What happened? During heavy traffic and being the only truck route to the freeway, it is common to not have enough room to clear the intersection before the next light so we are told to pause, look to see if we have room to clear the intersection, and then go if clear. On this day I saw another vehicle wanting to turn right while I had the right of way to turn left with the light. With that pause, that other vehicle decided to go in front of me. With the safety systems that we have, the truck was about to auto brake before I over road it so I wouldn't be rear ended and by the policy of 5 companies I have worked for before, we are to toot our air horn to let them know that was unsafe - that car was an unmarked cop car.

Pretty disco lights behind me and I pulled over, widows down, hands 10 and 2 and....   The officer ask me why I was pulled over - I didn't know. Well it seems I held on to the horn for a long time, I tailgated causing an unsafe situation, caused road rage and...  The official law I broke was "Inattentive Driving - Driver came into the intersection from ---- to -----  approaching a vehicle merging - driver came up behind with air horn - driver not paying attention... (again I just got a warning)

This is where I really love technology... You see when I put the companies computer into "officer inspection mode" (they are only allow to see certain things) video get saved and uploaded. I also had my dashcam which included audio. After contacting safety, the initial review cleared me (it will go through a thorough review too) and I got the email in the extra. I don't know if the officer was having a bad day, was a jerk or.... but when I continued to ask basic legal questions like "when is it appropriate to use the horn? as I was trying to be legal - he went on and on how I was wrong, created a dangerous situation and...

The positive of this? It would be really hard to have the day go any worse than this...
