The Living and the Dead

There was an eerie calm about Stirling city centre this afternoon, the first time I have ventured into it since lockdown.

Looking at all the shops, many boarded up, some never to reopen like British Home stores and Monsoon, one could only be fearful for the future of town centres.

I made a quick visit into Boots the chemist, suitably masked, for some basic toiletries, more out of curiosity than necessity.

The atmosphere was uncomfortably dystopian. It was so clinical.  Gone were the friendly assistants replaced instead by white-coated people in plastic visors.

In future I shall just shop online.

So we went up to Stirling Old Town Cemetery, one of the town’s big tourist attractions, and still open.

Its an amazing place and never ceases to fascinate me.
