Animas River

Twenty five miles outside of Durango a bridge crosses the river just over the Colorado state line. On the north side of the bridge you can find enough space to pull off the road and park. Several years ago while driving over the bridge, I saw down below what I thought might be a treasure: this sweet swimming hole.  It makes the drive to Durango much more pleasant on hot summer days. 93°F/34 C air temperature, water temperature 67 F/19 C.  Tomorrow, upstream, we will raft down the bigger rapids where the river falls much faster.  


I am a much happier person when I am out in nature!
