Canoeing on the Little Miami

Wednesday
Falling behind with my blips again, posting this from Wednesday of last week!
Roger, Laura and I went canoeing on the Little Miami today. We were quite impressed with how they had it set up. You had to make a reservation online, and print off the waiver form and sign it, then when we got there, instead of going into the office, they just had a window you could pass the waiver form through and leave your car keys if you didn’t want to risk losing them in the river! All the staff were wearing masks, and supposedly they are disinfecting the canoes, paddles and life jackets between uses, and you could certainly smell the disinfectant on something! They were only running the 3 and 6 mile stretches - we usually do 9, so we had to settle with the 6. We took a picnic with us, and pulled up on one of the pebbly areas to enjoy it, while watching other people canoe or kayak by. When we reached the end, we were taken back to the start in a minibus - just the three of us. The driver, also wearing a mask, explained they were running at about 50% capacity, so they can just transport one group at a time in the minibuses, and use only half the capacity of the old school buses they use.
It was a beautiful day to be out on the river, making a nice change to our usual hiking or cycling, and we felt they were operating very responsibly.
