Marmalade hoverfly on thistle

I'm not a nature photographer but I went out today with the intention of trying to take photographs of butterflies and bees.  I'd walked in the same area 2 days ago and been impressed by the number of these flitting from flower to flower.  But not today.  The sun went in and it began to rain and it seemed that all the insect life had hidden itself away until I noticed 'life' on this thistle flower.  I'm not sure, but I think the main insect is a marmalade hoverfly.

My second image is of foxgloves against the dark backdrop of pine forest.  It was surprising to see so many of these still in bloom in July.
