Wanderings & Witterings

Seabegs

Back blip (but only by a week!)

Sunday's walk was a long one, but in terms of time rather than distance.
There are several well-preserved sections of the Antonine Wall in this part of Central Scotland - Callendar Park and Tamfourhill in Falkirk and Seabegs Wood in Bonnybridge and, not too far away, Croy Hill and Bar Hill at Twechar - and I decided to make a return visit to Seabegs Wood, which is about a 30-minute walk along the Forth and Clyde Canal from where I live.

Spent quite a bit of time wandering along one side of the ridge above the ditch, i.e. the actual Wall itself, and then back along the ridge on the other side (main photo) before walking a short distance up to the Military Way, which I just walked as a 'there and back' trip.

None of these stretches are particularly long, but I was content just to meander and take numerous photos, many of which were of course subsequently deleted. A pleasant outing for a sunny Sunday morning.

Returned back along the Canal and along the way spotted the beastie on a hogweed plant that I made my extra for the day.
