Perfect Day

Another early start today. We drove to Exmoor to meet my niece and family who are camping at Horner . As we drove, I received a picture of the sea from my sister who had been surprised with a couple of days break down there, by her husband so it was a family gathering !
We picnicked by the stream in the Doone Valley and it was idyllic - everything I’d dreamed of during Lockdown. My great nieces were paddling in the stream and catching water boatmen in their nets whist we sat chatting . I did manage a paddle though .
Whist we were there a caravan came along, not realising about Robbers Bridge, so there was lots of manoeuvring and advice being given by helpful onlookers until with millimetres to spare they got it through the tiny gap .
We all split up in the afternoon and we walked to the beach from Bossington where there were lots of comma butterflies !
The day was rounded off by pizza from the Porlock Weir Hotel eaten with the backdrop of the sea .The light was luminous and there was lots of water related activities going on . My great nieces also managed a spot of crabbing .
We were sad to leave them all as it was one of those days which you didn’t want to end .
