Wisemans Bridge

“The biggest emotion in creation is the bridge to optimism.”
Brian May

The hotels are once again opening up in Wales so we've come to Tenby to enjoy the sunshine. After breakfast in our room overlooking the harbour we headed to Wiseman's Bridge, for a walk along the beach to Saundersfoot. Plenty of visitors around although not packed like it usually is, so it's taking time for people to regain confidence and for businesses to re-open (those that will). The chippies seem to be doing well anyway, with short queues at most places and the gulls lining up for the left-overs.
The tunnel between Wiseman's Bridge and Coppet Hall beach was once a railway track, a reminder of the coal-mining in the area which lasted, falteringly, until the early 20th century. Somewhat earlier than this, ancestors on my grandmother’s side came from Pembrokeshire to work as puddlers and iron workers in the Rhymney furnaces.
