An 'in camp' day!

Today began with very hot sun again. A welcome greeting when we wake up, although Mollie says it is very hot in their tent in the morning and is usually awake before us. It was so nice that we had a cooked breakfast, and did it on gas outside. It clouded over before long, but stayed warm for most of the day with only a tiny failed attempt at rain.

Jon, Henry and I went to Bovey Tracey food shopping this morning, and a newspaper so that we could catch up on the latest covid guidelines. Josh's brother is getting married next Saturday so a worrying time when there is talk of wedding receptions not going ahead - yet pubs can stay open. There really is no cohesion. I think they must go ahead, and with their 30 guests, just go to the pub....the same pub where the reception is booked, just don't call it a wedding reception. So unfair for all those people looking forward to such an important event in their lives. Keeping my fingers crossed for them.

The afternoon has been spent relaxing. So reading for Jon and Henry, but finding all other random things for me. I've started to do an embroidery, except I just had a blank bit of material and some silks. Had it in mind to try since last years's holiday to Bayeux. Ive chosen a panel from the tapestry from a book I bought, and have just started sewing. I'm pleased so far, but it is quite difficult to do small, and don't know any proper stitches, but the info says the original tapestry only uses 4 stitches and 1 of those is type of running stitch with threads laid under it, they call Bayeux stitch, and the outline is stem stitch. I'm doing in and out, over and under stitch!!! That's the only way I know how to sew....I'm quite pleased so far....i feel another hobby coming on!

We've had pizzas for tea. Very easy and we did have salad with it, so not that unhealthy. Our neighbouring tent who are in a group of 4 families, with about 10 kids between them, have been cooked their chips in their deep fat fryer....as they have done every night. Who takes an electric deep fat fryer camping with them?? Camping is not what it was!!

A brief game of boules before dinner, and now we have eaten, I need to do the washing up. Jon and Henry have gone to a nature reserve to look for photo opportunities then hopefully we will have games later.
