Our homemade greetings cards

Over the past few years when Mum has painted a flower or flowers, I have usually made greetings cards from the paintings. She sells these in the local shop and the profits go to charity. Our shop is a community shop and encourages local people to contribute in various ways.

We also use the cards to send to our friends and family.

Today, I have been printing some cards for the shop and for personal use. Once I've had the operation, working from the computer will be difficult. I'm going to move my desktop onto a desk that can be raised, so I can stand (for short periods) and use it. This worked well last time.

Mum had a brilliant idea yesterday. She thought of a family we know and wondered if one of the daughters might like to come and stay to look after us. Today we spoke to Hannah and she is delighted to come and help us. This takes a lot of pressure off other people who were going to try to help.

Last time, it took me quite a while to be able to look after myself adequately because of the pain and the morphine. Now I'm hoping to rest (and watch the Edinburgh Book Festival) - and do my exercises, of course!
