In Flight....

They're back! Over the last few years we've had a pair of Common Terns visit Trentham Gardens. And I spotted them this week.

I've not really much experience of photographing birds in flight, but after many blurry shots I managed a few that were in focus. I only had a medium telephoto lens with me but I'm reasonably happy with this image. They were diving into the lake for food, and I caught this one looking down into the water. I could have watched then for hours. 

Hopefully they'll stick around long enough for me to try again with a bigger lens!?
