Life in Newburgh on Ythan

The bringer of death

"I am death, the mighty destroyer of the world, out to destroy."
From the The Bhagavad Gita

Everyone enjoys a good spider, well, almost everyone. This tiny fella  hanging from its web in our garden is, appropriately, the Garden Cross Spider Araneus diadematus. He, or she is just beginning its adult life and is only some 5mm in length. And yet in its tiny brain there are the instructions on how to build  a large and beautiful engineered web of silk. The more I think about life the more utterly incredible it becomes. What a pity that we great apes don't look after the living world with the  care that it so deserves.
