a lifetime burning

Beaten by the rain

Flower Friday: Beaten by the rain

This little yellow rose looked very perky and absolutely smashing yesterday, its perfectly round little bloom turned up at the sky , but after a night and a morning in the torrential rain, it has to be said that it is looking rather oval and a little more sorry for itself today.  Poor little rose ;-)

On the other hand, the Gardner is rather happier as she hasn't had to water anything today, and looking at the forecast she is not going to need to water anything for some time to come.

My trip to the pub beer garden last night passed off without incident.  Although the forecast put the percentage chance of rain at near certainty levels (the percentage was in the high nineties for two hours) we enjoyed a very pleasant dry and storm free evening.  This was , of course, guaranteed by all 4 of us packing waterproof tops, trousers and hats.

It was slightly gratifying however, that as I walked the last 100 yards home the rain started and soon became a proper downpour.

On the slight downside, the lack of rain meant that my boots and trousers needed a proper clean this morning, as the cows have been taken down one section of the route for their daily milking and the ground was a little on the slippery side in places.  Quite "exciting" in the dark on the way back through the fields....  had it been raining the cow pats would have washed off by the time I got home, as it was the hose pipe came in handy this morning :-)
