Quod oculus meus videt

Signs of Autumn

A thoroughly filthy day of weather.  The rain arrived at 9 am and it continued into the failing light of dusk.

I was putting together an application for some of the morning and then inspecting the locks on our uPVC doors to see if they could be upgraded.  Friends had recently been broken into and apparently, I'd never realised this, the thieves could get into the house in less than 15 seconds by snapping the barrel lock on this type of door.  It literally falls apart under some force leaving the property open to entry.  I now have the necessary information to buy some anti-snap locks to make the house more secure.

Wide Wednesday's theme today is signs of Spring/Autumn.  All very inclusive, perhaps a little early for any significant signs in the environment but our Japanese maple does seem to have changed colour in some of its leaves.  The rain had also created a lovely jewelled effect.

I opted for a rarely used lens, the 20mm f1.8, which gave this close up with narrow depth of field in a wide angle frame.
