Life in Sunny Dubai

Ice Skating

... on a public holiday for Islamic New Year. We are now in the year 1442. The year actually started last week but the holiday was declared today.

We had to be out of the flat for Nara, so went to Dubai Mall to do a few things. In the process, we saw some new cameras. (I wish I hadn't gone into the shop now). Anyway, we had a coffee at Segafredo and then checked out the original Eataly. It's so much bigger than the one at Festival City.

We then walked over to the Waterfall - my first extra. I haven't been in this part of the mall for ages. It was good to be reacquainted with it. I couldn't help spotting the colourful crates of Cereal Killer Cafe. (Honestly, who thinks of these things?!) No idea how long it's been there. The benches that look like beds are interesting.

G wanted to check out M&S which took us past the Ice Rink. It was the busiest we've seen it in a long time. I guess the space is big enough for people to social distance if they remember to do so.

Back home for a late lunch. It wasn't long before the afternoon disappeared and I had a message from friend Marilyn about the Zoom call I promised her last week. So, laptop out and set up in a jiffy... We ended up chatting for over an hour! She lived here with her husband and young family back in the late 1980s. We went to the same church, so there was lots fo catch up with.

And now, it is nearly 1 am and G has just switched the TV off after watching Viceroy's House and A United Kingdom on one of the free movie channels. I shall miss these summer holidays!
