A Window

Storm Francis raged, ripped plants from pots,
broke fences and crashed helter skelter,
woke us at night, kept us indoors by day,
watching small birds huddle for shelter.

We drove into Dartmouth for fish and chips,
saw white caps skip on the sea.
A rainbow rose softly across the Dart
as we walked along the quay.

The dark clouds waited until we were home
to chuck their buckets of rain.
And the gale still rages - a baritone strand
to tinnitus, shrill in my brain.

The quayside in Dartmouth is relatively sheltered on a stormy day, so it was pretty much the only way we were going to get a walk today. Lots of tourists out and about and could see Blackpool Sands was quite busy as we drove by, with people swimming in the sea despite the gales.  Sick of listening to the wind and it feels as if my tinnitus is even louder than usual. My Extra shows a juvenile blackbird finding shelter in our garden.
