BRILLIANT DAY...

.... was had taking a drive into the Blue Mountains to the Royal Botanic Gardens.

The winds were over the sky was clear, the sun was just perfect so off we set for a wonder around these superb gardens.

Although it is still mid season there was a lot to enjoy, and love this "beauty" showing off its lunch caught in the honeycombs.

Have a look at some others on FLICKR here a "massive"King Protea".

"Back When" in fact about 200 million years ago in the Dinosaurs time saw the extinction of the Wollemi Tree. Info here - Amazingly there was a "find" of a Wollemi pine in 1994 growing in a remote canyon in Wollemi National Park, about 200 km northwest of Sydney.

And now they are making a come back and this Botanic Gardens has played a BIG part - check just one here

And the view on a clear day is pretty good as well, check a Pano here.

All in all a great day, even had a flyby from Kevy the Kookaburra.

Enjoy and have a look in LARGE
